1. To provide a language-rich and enjoyable environment for enhancing English learning atmosphere.
1.1 Set up an ‘English Wall’ on each floor to enrich language environment. English materials such as lyrics of songs, poems & chants will be displayed.
1.2 Pupils’ work will be displayed around our school campus and classroom.
Pupils’ preparatory work or pre-learning tasks and materials should be posted in the classroom or shared during the lessons frequently to encourage pupils to self-learn and to enhance the learning atmosphere.
1.3 P.1-3 teachers assign some pupils to lead the whole class to sing English songs between the lessons.
1.4 English Learning Corner ‘English Everywhere’ will be set up in each classroom. Core vocabulary items, phonics and grammar rules will be posted.
2. To promote pupils’ self-directed learning, creativity and e-learning competency.
2.1 Making effective use of e-learning resources to extend pupils’ learning beyond classroom and build their self-directed learning habits.
e.g. STAR and i-lesson for/as learning in parallel to strengthen relevant learning and teaching activities
2.2‘One-minute Talk’ will be conducted during English lessons. Pupils will do the show and tell on a selected topic. Creativity is emphasized on their topic.
2.3 Teachers assign e-learning homework by using the ‘English Web-learning Corner’ set up on the school website every week as self-learning.
2.4 Pupils in KS2 devise a group project timetable which helps develop a clear sense of direction in the project, and to support them in allocating time and duties and monitoring the progress at different time intervals.
2.5 English Day will be carried out on Tuesdays. Pupils can use I-pads to play English games.
2.6 E-learning elements will be adopted in P.4 & P.5 lessons. Interactive apps will be introduced and used through I-pads.
3. To cultivate pupils a sense of care and respect to others.
3.1 Buddy Programme is set up to help targeted P.1 & P.2 pupils to gain mutual respect and enhance their English foundation.
3.2 Conduct ‘Care and Respect’ Writing Competition during Chinese New Year Holiday.
4. To help pupils enhance the writing skills and cultivate good reading habit.
4.1 School-based Writing materials will be continued using from P.2 to P.6 to maintain the sustainability.
4.2 ‘Journal Writing’ will be assigned to P.1 pupils. Pupils have to complete journal writings regularly.
4.3 ‘Bookworm Reading Club’ will be carried out in KS1. There will be 30 English story books in each class. Pupils can take turns to borrow the books.
4.4 Pupils in KS2 are suggested to borrow one English book bi-weekly from the public, class or school library.
